April 29, 2012: The Importance of Calling

Jon explains his vision for our church during this season where we are considering a significant facility transition. In 1 Peter 2:4-12 a compelling call is laid out for the church: a God-centered calling, a spiritual calling, a corporate calling.

April 8, 2012: The Absent Jesus

We conclude both our Easter 2012 series and our long-running series in Mark this Sunday with Mark 16:1-8. You may have noticed that a lot of the time we have spent in Mark over the past couple years has come together to fit into these last 2-3 chapters. This is a great time to reflect on how God has used our time in Mark to shape you, your thinking, your life.

April 1, 2012: The Royal Jesus

After this Sunday, we only have one more passage in our Easter series:

  • April 8: Mark 16:1-8, The Absent Jesus

Our focus turns on Sunday to Mark 15:16-47, the climax of Mark’s story. In this passage the condemned Jesus is punished, crucified, dies, and is buried securely in a tomb.

As you read this week, here are some questions to get you thinking…

  • What is your reaction to the story of Mark? To this climax for Mark’s story?
  • For you, what is the most striking thing about Christ’s passion?
  • What kind of King is this?
